Latest Talking Electronic Meteorologist

talking-meteorologist

The weather in the east coast isn’t exactly the most endearing at the moment, breaking all previous snowfall records not thanks to the scourge of global warming as we pay the heavy price of the industrial revolution. Well, if you are more of a hearer than a reader, the Talking Electronic Meteorologist might be just the cup of tea for you to jolt you awake with news of blizzards and other weird weather phenomena.

This is the electronic weather station that literally tells you the weather conditions in a clear voice. At the press of a button, it streams the current audio weather forecast you’ve selected from one of 60,000 locations through the display’s dual speakers. It’s ideal for staying informed while getting dressed or performing some other activity without turning on a television or computer. No subscription fee is required. The base station wirelessly receives National Weather Service data (updated four times a day) up to 330? away from a “weather gateway” that plugs into your existing network router (requires high-speed Internet connection). A four-day forecast, computer-updated time, date, and a scrolling text display are presented on the unit’s 4 1/2? square LCD panel, as well as the temperature sent by an included wireless outdoor transmitter.
Retailing for $99.95, the Gateway itself is plugged into a power outlet via its AC adapter, while the Base station and transmitter runs on a trio C and a couple of AA batteries.[Source]

NewToaster That Mimics Printer

toast3
The toaster is probably one of the most boring gadgets out there, which is probably why designers enjoy altering the classic toaster so much.  Well one more designer is trying their hand at changing up the way we use our toasters.  This one seems to take its inspiration directly from a printer.  Instead of printing out pages though, it spits out fresh toast.

It’s be cool if it did actually print something onto the toast, since the design is so similar to a printer.  On the top of the toaster you place several different pieces of bread.  Then as it toasts the bread it drops them down below in a nice little stack.  It’d be great for large families that need a stack of toasted bread in a hurry.  So far it is still a concept though.[Source]
